Using castor oil to promote healthy hair growth is, seemingly, nothing new, and has been done for generations.
Many use it to promote hair growth after hair loss due to pregnancy and breastfeeding, and it seems, there is actually some science behind it too.
Castor oil contains ricinoleic acid, which has anti-inflammatory properties. Hence, it can help soothe and reduce irritation in the scalp. This, in turn, can help increase blood circulation to the scalp and increase the hair's thickness and density. Castor oil also contains omega-6 fatty acids, and the fatty acid will feed each follicle, providing the nutrients and proteins they need to grow healthy, strong hair.
