Redecorating? Stay ahead of the pack with these key design trends for 2015

Make your home your haven. And make your neighbours jealous.

One of the things we love most about a new year is that it’s a great excuse to try new things. January is generally taken up with recovering from Christmas, so February is the perfect time to get started on a little interior design project.
Here are the five trends you’ll be seeing lots of this year, choose your favourite elements and get stuck in! As Oprah says, “your home should rise up to meet you.” Make sure yours does.

1. Pick a pastel

2015 is the year we wave goodbye to whites and creams and turn our attention to pastels. Dusty pinks, baby blues and muted coffee colours are on our style radar.

2. Add some sparkle

Crystal has always been timeless but in years gone by we’ve swapped it for a more organic feel. Well, not anymore. This glam splash of sparkle is well and truly back on trend.

3. Think about texture

It’s time to consider remodeling those ‘modern chic’ elements that were so popular ten years ago. 2015 is all about organic woods, ethnic tiles and furs (real or faux).

4. Exotic fusion

This year for interior inspiration, we’re looking to traditional Turkish, Moroccan and Indian styles to guide our hand. Imagine mosaic pottery, comfy, colourful cushions and rich wooden furniture.

5. More is more

Clutter is fashionable again, and it’s here to stay. Focus on making the most of the pieces in your home that you find beautiful and meaningful. Flea market finds and holiday souvenirs should be displayed with pride.
