Trying to shop more sustainable and from small businesses? You will love children’s lifestyle store Síológ

I think many of us over the past couple of years – and especially over the past few months – have taken a look at our shopping- and consumer habits and felt like we wanted to try to do better.

I know I sure have. Which is why I was so excited when I came across the brand new Irish store Síológ, a sustainable children's clothing and lifestyle online shop. The store sources their products exclusively from independent Irish brands, and as well as that, donate one percent of all sales directly to the LauraLynn foundation. The name Síológ (pronounced ‘shee-lowg’) is the Irish word for 'seedling' and here is what founder and owner, Susan Grant has to say about how she came to name her business: "Our name is important because it encapsulates our three core values:

• the kids, our own little ever-growing seedlings - the main event here.
• the natural world and the environment that we so urgently need to protect
• Irish businesses, culture and people.

We are really excited to bring together a range of Irish brands who are doing their best to help people shop ethically and sustainably and who are thinking consciously about things like materials, packaging, and the social impact of their production." Síológ launched last month, after Grant, a Dublin-based mum of twin girls, sought to bring together high quality, ethically made children’s clothing and lifestyle products from a wide range of independent Irish brands, all under one roof. Identifying a gap in the market for a central source of eco-friendly and ethically made Irish childrenswear, Susan decided to launch the site as a means of bringing together a range of quality brands who share her sustainable ethos. Apart from clothing, Síológ also offers a growing range of skincare, home décor, toys and eco products. “As a parent, I am trying to make more sustainable choices for my family and I thought it would be fantastic if there was a central place for responsibly made kids clothes and lifestyle products, making it easier for parents to shop ethically while also supporting local Irish businesses. I think people are really starting to understand the social and environmental impact of fast fashion and they are looking for a more conscious alternative. I love the idea that all of the brands on the site are small independent businesses, and most of them are owned and run by busy mums like myself who have followed a dream and are doing things a little differently."
