Parents will receive their child benefit bonus earlier than expected

Kat O'Connor

Parents will receive social welfare payments earlier than expected.

The dates for the social welfare bonus payments have been amended.

The Government originally announced that payments will be made on October 31st. However, that has since been changed because of the upcoming bank holiday weekend.

Post offices around Ireland will be closed on Monday, October 31st, which means the payments will be made a few days earlier than expected.

Government officials confirmed that some bonuses will be paid on Saturday, October 29th rather than October 31st.

People collecting their pensions and child benefit payments will be able to collect them from their local post office two days earlier.

Those who receive their social welfare via cheque will also receive it on Saturday, October 29th.

However, if your welfare payment is paid into your credit union or your bank account then that payment will be made on Tuesday, November 1st.

Parents usually get €140 as part of the child benefit payment, but they will be given a double payment in November.

Minister Heather Humphreys confirmed the dates for the bonus payments.
