Young Irish woman seriously injured after falling while taking selfie in Italy

The woman was trying to take a selfie when she lost her balance and fell onto the ground below.

A young Irish woman has been taken to hospital in a critical condition after falling while taking a selfie in Italy.

The woman was taking a photo in the San Giuliano bathing area before the tragic accident unfolded.

According to The Irish Mirror, the woman, aged in her 30s, was visiting Genoa over the weekend. She was travelling with a friend when the incident happened.

She reportedly fell over railings and onto the ground when she attempted to take the photo. The woman was rushed to San Martino Hospital where she is being treated for “serious head trauma”.

Emergency services treated the young woman at the scene of the accident before transferring her to a hospital in the city.

Witnesses told police that the young woman lost her balance before she fell over the railings. She was rushed to the hospital under a code red alarm, which is a medical emergency in Italy.
