Two incredible people.

Two Gardaí in Meath have been hailed heroes after they saved a baby’s life.

Garda Edel Dugdale and Garda Grace Murray were on-duty when a distressed mother arrived at Trim Garda Station.

She was holding her three-month-old baby in her arms, but she was unresponsive.

Garda Dugdale and Garda Murray quickly performed lifesaving CPR.

Thanks to their quick response, the baby regained consciousness until an ambulance arrived.

An Garda Síochána issued a statement praising both Gardaí;

“In recent weeks, a woman arrived at Trim Garda Station distressed and carrying her three-month-old baby girl who was unresponsive. The closest hospital would be about 15km away.”

“Garda Edel Dugdale and Garda Grace Murray were on-duty at the station and immediately responded with lifesaving CPR. The baby regained consciousness and was cared for until paramedics soon arrived.”

“The quick reaction of both Gardaí combined with their skill and ability to remain calm in this pressurised situation is a fitting example of the everyday acts that members do to keep people safe.”

Gardaí confirmed that both the baby and her mother are doing well after the horrifying incident.

“We are relieved to know that both baby and mother are now doing well and have fully recovered from what must have been a traumatic experience.”

“We’d like to thank this young mother for placing her trust in local Gardaí to help at a time of need.”

Fair play to Garda Edel Dugdale and Garda Grace Murray. We need more people like them in the world.
