Prince Harry and Meghan Markle involved in ‘near catastrophic car chase’

The incident occurred in New York.

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex, and Meghan Markle’s mother were involved in a ‘near catastrophic car chase” in New York, a spokesman for Prince Harry has said.

“This relentless pursuit, lasting over two hours, resulted in multiple near collisions involving other drivers on the road, pedestrians and two NYPD (New York Police Department) officers,” the spokesperson added.

The couple were in New York for a ceremony that saw Markle pick up an award for her humanitarian work. Sky News has more on the story:

Addressing the Ms Foundation for Women’s 50th anniversary event, in Manhattan, on Tuesday, Meghan Markle told those in attendance:

Princess Diana, Harry’s mother, passed away in Paris, in 1997, when the car she was travelling in, which was being pursued by paparazzi crashed.
