Irish parents are being warned over a recent recall of two toys sold on Amazon due to the risk of choking.

The Competitions and Consumer Protection Commission put out an alert about the products after finding them to be potentially dangerous.

According to a recall notice published just days ago, the products pose a risk of choking and have been deemed unsafe by officials.

The notice also confirmed that neither toy meets the necessary safety standards but a total of 152 have been sold in the Republic of Ireland.

The notice reads: “A safety issue has been identified with certain toys sold on the Amazon platform.

“The risk presented by these products is Choking. These products do not meet the relevant safety standard. These products contain small parts. These small parts may be placed in the mouth and swallowed, causing a young child to choke”.

The first product included in this recall is the ‘Yeqivo Giant Teddy Bear’ and there have been a total of 122 sold in Ireland to date. The brand is Yeqivo and the ASIN Number is B08TTK7C2X.

The second item included in the recall is the ‘RoterSee Easter Wooden Egg Shakers Maracas’ which are described as ‘various wooden, multi-coloured egg shaker toys each containing small ball.’

To date, there have been 30 sold in Ireland.

If you purchased one of these products, you should discontinue use immediately and throw away the products – or keep them out of the reach of children until you have contacted the supplier.

If you wish to contact Amazon to see if there are any remedies available to you, such as a refund, you can do this on your user account on Amazon.
