A 10-Year-Old Boy Stole His Parents’ Car “To Go To The Shops”

Alison Bough

A ten-year-old boy from Kansas in the United States has been taken into custody by police after stealing his parents’ car and driving eleven miles to go to the shops.

Police clocked the vehicle being driven erratically and without headlights, leading to a high-speed car chase which ended when the car hit a kerb.

Officers said that, at one point, the car was almost involved in a head-on collision with a tractor and trailer. Police Chief Keith Loreno said they were surprised to find the youngster behind the wheel.

“It appears he wanted to go shopping. At one point, he far exceeded the speed limits of the city. Besides himself, he placed a lot of people in serious danger.”

The ten-year-old was taken into police custody and charged with fleeing from a law enforcement officer. The local Toledo news station reports that although juvenile court and children’s services are now involved in the case, the young boy’s parents have not been charged in relation to the incident.
