Austria orders millions of non-vaccinated citizens into lockdown

Austria is set to place millions of unvaccinated citizens into a lockdown as it struggles with rising Covid cases.

The Government has stressed that these new measures are being introduced to help ease the pressure on ICUs and hospitals.

It is believed 65% of the population in Austria is fully vaccinated.

The unvaccinated will only be allowed to leave their homes for limited reasons like grocery shopping and attending work.

They are currently banned from hotels, theatres, bars, and restaurants.

Chancellor Schallenberg commented, “In reality, we have told one-third of the population: you will not leave your apartment anymore apart from for certain reasons. That is a massive reduction in contacts between the vaccinated and the unvaccinated,”

“We are not taking this step lightly but it is necessary.”

It is believed NPHET is growing increasingly concerned about the current rate of Covid infections.

The Covid case numbers have been steadily increasing in Ireland.

“Before you leave the house, think about the number of people you are going to meet, and the risk associated with the activities you have planned,” he stressed.

The public has been asked to avoid high-risk areas like pubs, clubs, and house parties.

NPHET has advised people who are spending a lot of time in restaurants, pubs, nightclubs, and other high-risk areas to take two antigen tests per week.

Entertainment: Strictly viewers fuming over unfair results

Strictly Come Dancing viewers were less than impressed with this week’s elimination.

Two of the show’s female contestants landed in the dance-off in Sunday’s show.

Tilly Ramsey and Sara Davies competed for a place in next week’s show. The judges decided to send Sara and Alijaz home, but viewers thought neither couple deserved to be in that position.

One user said, “If I’ve said it once I’ve said it a million times. Who the hell is voting for Dan Walker?”

“If Dan doesn’t go next week I’m writing a formal complaint.”
