A 19-year-old student has died in India during a safety exercise.

Police have arrested a training instructor in Tamil Nadu said to be involved with the death of the 19-year-old woman.

According to BBC news, police have said that N Logeshwari died after she was forced to jump off a building into a safety net that was being held by fellow students.

They say the instructor pushed the young woman when she was reluctant to take the jump.

The young student suffered injuries after the push led to her hitting the roof of the first floor.

Speaking to BBC, Tamil senior government official Hariharan said;

“The college didn’t apply for permission for any such training. This is against the law. Any school or college has to get prior permission from the government before conducting an exercise like this. Police are investigating the issue and the trainer has been arrested”

A case is also being brought against the college itself.

A video of the tragic incident has surfaced on social media in which you can see the 19-year-old losing her balance and hitting her head after she was pushed by the instructor.

College authorities rushed her to the hospital immediately after the accident, but she was declared dead on arrival.

The college in question has yet to give an official statement about the incident.
