Eight must-read books we can’t wait to check out in 2018

Keeley Ryan

The end of the holiday season is nearly here.

Which means that in between all of the holiday parties, festive feasts, decorating and shopping, we’ve been trying to work our way through the “to read” pile that has been sitting beside our bed.

And while our minds are set on making it through the literary gems of 2017, our minds can’t help but turn to what adventures are going to be hitting the shelves next year.

Here’s eight amazing books we’ll be adding to our ‘must read’ list for 2018.

The Immortalists by Chloe Benjamin

The four Gold siblings sneak out of the house one night in 1969, all so they can get their fortune told by a psychic who claims to be able to tell anyone the date they will die.

The book follows the family over the next five decades, as the four siblings must learn how to live with the fortunes that they were given that night.

And while it may not be out for awhile yet, there’s plenty of buzz around the book – it’s already in talks to become a TV show.

Who is Vera Kelly? by Rosalie Knecht

But as she becomes more entwined with the locals, the already-fragile government begins to break.

When Vera is betrayed and left stranded in the middle of a coup, she ends up having to take extreme measures to save herself – and makes some unexpected allies along the way.

The Winds of Winter by George R.R. Martin

(We’re being entirely optimistic here – we fully realise that.)

It’s been six years since George R.R. Martin released A Dance With Dragons, the fifth of seven planned novels.

And there’s been no official date yet on when The Winds of Winter, the sixth book in the A Song of Ice and Fire series, is going to be released.

But with the Game of Thrones television series already in production for its final season, we’re choosing to remain hopeful that (The Winds of) Winter is coming.

Available…we don’t know when.

Still Me by JoJo Moyes

Louisa Clark is taking on the Big Apple as she takes on a  job with a wealthy couple.

But the move to New York doesn’t come without its share of troubles, especially when it comes to handling high society and her relationship with Ambulance Sam.

Not to mention the fact that she will come face to face with someone who reminds her of her past.

The Seven Deaths of Evelyn Hardcastle by Stuart Turton

Aiden Bishop is forced to relive the murder of socialite Evelyn Hardcastle every single day.

That is, unless he can track down her killer once and for all.
