Many areas around the country are without power this morning and this afternoon.

25,000 households, farms and businesses are still without power today. Some areas have been affected for more than 24 hours, said the ESB.

ESB Networks said it will be today at the earliest before repair crews can get to isolated parts of the country.

According to to the a spokesperson the worst areas affected are Cork, Enniscorthy, Arklow, the Greater Dublin Area and eastern counties of Leinster.

“We would advise anyone who is listening and who is wondering when they’re going to get their power back; we are getting information back from our crews and we are constantly updating powercheck.ie,” the spokesperson said on Daithi and Maura.

“If people can’t access the internet they can ring 1850 372 999.”

There is also a serious concern about schools opening in the areas above on Monday, as there is no certainty that power will be restored in time.

And there are now serious concerns that Storm Emma will result in communities being cut off from power for days, with water supplies also highly at risk in Galway, Cork, Mayo and Cavan.
