A Belfast woman is set to become Ireland’s youngest grandmother – aged just 29.

The woman, whose 15-year-old daughter is expecting her first child this year, has not been identified in public, but social media posts by the pregnant secondary school student and her boyfriend confirmed the news online.

According to reports in the Irish Independent today, the young dad-to-be, who is thought to be around 17 years old, mentioned he was hoping for a son. Posting below the comment, the girl wrote: “I know lv (love) hopefully, but we don’t care as long as it’s healthy”.

The baby is due this summer, making the girl’s mum the youngest granny in the country before she reaches her thirtieth birthday.
