A 4-year-old boy has tragically died as a result of a farm accident

A four-year-old boy has tragically died as a result of a farm accident involving a JCB-type digger in Northern Ireland.

It is understood the young boy was killed in an incident involving a JCB-type digger at approximately 8.30PM on Thursday evening.

The PSNI attended the farm in the Maguiresbridge area of Co Fermanagh. Inspector Glen Latimer told The Irish News:

“The child was sadly pronounced dead at the scene. Local PSNI will work closely with the Health and Safety Executive as they investigate the circumstances.”

DUP leader Arlene Foster, an Assembly member for the Maguiresbridge area, passed on her condolences to the family:

“This is devastating news and I wish to express my sympathy to the family. In the close-knit farming community of Fermanagh, news of this untimely death has caused a great deal of shock.

The family will be in my thoughts and prayers today and in the weeks to come, as they mourn the loss of a young life taken under such tragic circumstances.”

The Northern Ireland Heath and Safety Executive are said to be investigating the circumstances of the fatal incident.
