Kildare girl, 4, drowned in Marbella pool after 'falling in'

An Irish girl has died on a family holiday in Spain.

The four-year-old reportedly drowned in a swimming pool on Saturday morning.

The child was on a family holiday in the popular tourist resort of Marbella.

The incident took place at around 10.30am local time close to the Golden Mile area between between Marbella and Puerto Banus.

Emergency services attended the scene but were unable to revive the child, reports The Irish Independent.

The family were understood to be coming to the end of a month-long break in the area.

It’s believed that the pool belonged to a private villa.

The girl’s death is being treated as a tragic accident.

The Department of Foreign Affairs is aware of the incident and is providing consular assistance to the family.
