More than three quarters of Irish parents received multiples of the same gift when they had their baby.

Babygros top the list of most common gift in this category and 52 per cent had received more than one in the same style.

A massive 75 per cent confessed that they had re-gifted their presents or had left them unused. Despite this, the majority (60 per cent) said that they disagreed with the idea of opening a baby gift registry.

While baby showers are on the increase in Ireland (52 per cent of women have had one or are planning one), Irish mums-to-be remain totally unimpressed with the latest US baby crazes, with 71% saying they would not consider a 3D model of their unborn child while 93% would say no to placenta printing.

The survey was conducted in advance of the SMA Know How Pregnancy and Baby Fair, which is taking place in Cork next weekend April 18th and 19th.
