“My heart is broken for their son”
Alec Baldwin has broken his silence after the tragic shooting of Halyna Hutchins.
The director of photography was killed on the set of the movie Rust.
It is understood Alec Baldwin fired a prop gun and fatally shot the 42-year-old.
The actor tweeted this evening, “There are no words to convey my shock and sadness regarding the tragic accident that took the life of Halyna Hutchins, a wife, mother and deeply admired colleague of ours.
“I’m fully cooperating with the police investigation to address how this tragedy occurred and I am in touch with her husband, offering my support to him and his family. My heart is broken for her husband, their son, and all who knew and loved Halyna.”

The movie’s director Joel Souza was also taken to hospital in critical condition. He has since been discharged from Christus St. Vincent Regional Medical Center.

Hutchins was rushed to the University of New Mexico Hospital after the tragic incident but she was pronounced dead at the hospital.
The shooting took place on the set of Rust in New Mexico.
An investigation is currently underway.
Baldwin’s spokesperson confirmed there was a shooting incident involving the “misfire of a prop gun with blanks” on the set.
The actor was seen “in tears” outside the sheriff’s station in New Mexico following the shooting.
A spokesperson for the sheriff’s office in Santa Fe commented: “This investigation remains open and active. No charges have been filed in regard to this incident. Witnesses continue to be interviewed by detectives.”
Filming has been halted.
“Production has been halted for the time being. The safety of our cast and crew remains our top priority,” a source told E!
No arrests have been made so far. Officers are interviewing witnesses to piece together what happened on the film set.
