A US mom has beaten odds of 60 million to one to give birth to America’s first all-female quintuplets.

Blogger Danielle Busby delivered Olivia Marie, Ava Lane, Hazel Grace, Parker Kate and Riley Paige last week, all weighing within six-ounces. They are the first female quintuplets born anywhere in the world since 1969.

According to a statement released by the Women’s Hospital of Texas, the babies arrived at 28 weeks on April 8th, with 12 experts on hand to ensure their safe delivery. All five are now breathing on their own and said to be doing well.

The couple, who are also parents to three-year-old Blayke, initially struggled to conceive another child before resorting to intrauterine insemination (IUI).

They were as shocked as anyone else by the outcome, saying: “Never would we have imagined the plan that God had for us in our journey to grow our little family.”

The family have set up a fundraising page to help them meet the eye-popping expense of raising five babies at once. They hope donations will help them purchase larger vehicles and a bigger home. More than $13,000 of the campaign’s $30,000 target has already poured in from well wishers.

Here’s the latest update from an exhausted but delighted Mum and Dad…

The last set of quintuplets were born to Irene and John Hanson at Queen Charlotte’s maternity hospital in London in 1969.
