The Coombe Hospital managed 195 multiple births in 2013, according to its latest annual report.
Carlow quads Aisling, Caragh, Lorcan and Cormac Britton were born at the Dublin hospital on January 10 that year, followed by six sets of triplets and 188 sets of twins.
The report shows that one in three births at the hospital were induced, with 28 per cent of babies delivered by Caesarean section.
Hospital Master Dr Sharon Sheehan noted that, generally, cases are growing more complex, with the rate of severe illness in women rise from 4.4 per 1,000 to 5.8 per 1,000.
Mothers who were aged over 40 made up 5.7 per cent of the total, representing a seven year high.
The report also showed that one in eight women treated at the hospital were current smokers, although the number of women who drank alcohol while pregnant fell 1.4 per cent.
