Ant McPartlin talks ‘amazing’ support from his wife during rehab

The TV presenter has been speaking about the impact his addiction had on his marriage.

Ant McPartlin says he has huge regrets about what he put his wife Lisa through during his battle with drugs and depression.

“I’ve put Lisa through hell with mood swings and depression and how it affects you,” Ant told The Sun. “I’m very sorry about the effect it has on partners. This kind of stuff puts strains on any marriage. “In hindsight, I should have mentioned it earlier but you’re embarrassed about it.”

The I’m a Celeb host praised his wife of 11 years, saying she coped “amazingly” while he was in rehab for treatment for addiction to painkillers.

“I was desperately worried about Lisa in rehab,” he admitted. “But they started introducing phone calls after a few weeks. “Lisa has been very supportive.”

Lisa, 40, is a former dancer who met her husband at a Smash Hits concert 25 years ago - when Ant and Dec were PJ & Duncan.

They dated for 11 years before the TV presenter proposed in Dubai. They married in 2006 with, of course, Dec acting as best man.

Lisa is a respected makeup artist who now heads hair and makeup BBC's Strictly Come Dancing.
