An attempted child abduction has been reported in Cork.

According to The Irish Independent, the alleged abduction took place as a ten-year-old child walked home from primary school yesterday.

It’s believed the incident happened at a shortcut between the Duntaheen and Cork Roads in Fermoy around 3:30 pm.

The young boy said the man asked him to go with him but he fled immediately to the meeting point he had previously arranged with his parents.

It’s thought the man in question was aged between his late 20s and early 40s and the youngster said he was wearing a hat at the time.

The family has made a complaint to Gardaí and they are investigating the reports.
