A popular birthday indeed.

September 26th – which this year falls on a Monday – is the most popular day for babies to be born.

Curious as to why?

Well, try counting back approximately nine months – and you will come to realise that most people clearly do more than just kiss under the mistletoe…

A very merry Christmas

According to data from the UK government live births database, greeting card company thortful.com found that the most popular days for babies to be born are the 24th, 25th and 26th September, meaning parents conceived the most children on Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, and St. Stephen’s Day.

Yep, it seems like festive frolicking is resulting in a bit of a baby boom every September. In fact, last year, nearly 2,000 children were born in the UK on the 26th of September, which means couples celebrated the festive season with more than just a mulled wine.

So, if your birthday is coming up in September it’s safe to say that your parents had a very merry Christmas.

To celebrate the days when most babies are conceived, thortful.com have created tongue and cheek birthday cards for those who were conceived over the Christmas holidays.

Andy Pearce, Co-founder and CEO at thortful.com, comments “At thortful we celebrate all birthdays, and it’s great to hear the news that thousands of more birthdays will be created by pending parents this upcoming Christmas”
