Harrowing news from the US this week.
A 9-month-old boy was found alongside the bodies of his deceased parents in their Detroit home.
The young parents were discovered when their family went to check in on them on June 22. The double homicide reportedly occurred during the night of June 21.
It is believed the infant was alone in the house for hours. He was physically unharmed, reports state.
A neighbour told Fox 2: “The baby … was left there unattended for quite some time, before the family could come and get him.”
According to Detroit News, the parents recently moved from Ypsilanti to Detroit. It is understood that they were trying to get away from 32-year-old Orlando Whitfield.
Whitfield turned himself into the police, but later died by suicide in prison.
Neighbours have placed candles and teddy bears outside the family’s home as a mark of respect.
