“He was a very decent and hard-working man”

A Ballyfermot father was shot dead as his wife and 6-year-old daughter slept in their family home.

Gardaí in Ballyfermot are now investigating the shocking murder of Michael Tormey.

Mr. Tormey was shot multiple times at his home on Thomand Road, Ballyfermot.

The dad was killed in the early hours of yesterday morning.

According to reports, nobody heard the gunshots, despite the dad being shot numerous times.

He was found slumped in the driveway of his house. Gardaí and Dublin Fire Brigade attended the scene.

Mr. Tormey was not known to the Gardaí. According to reports, he had been socialising at a house party before the attack. The dad reportedly got into an argument and a fight had broken out.

Detectives believe the killer called to his home after the party. It is understood words were exchanged before the dad was shot.

Investigators think the shooter may have lured him out of his home following the party.

A full investigation is currently underway.

Garadí stressed they’re following all lines of inquiry.

Mr. Tormey has been remembered fondly by local people and beloved friends.

People Before Profit Councillor Hazel De Nortúin said, “It’s been a tough week in Ballyfermot.”

She told Morning Ireland, “He was a very decent, hard working man. He was also a loyal friend.

“His sole purpose and focus in life was working with his children and family, and to make sure that they had everything that they need.”

Witnesses have been urged to come forward, particularly people in the Thomond Road, Landen Road, Kylemore Road, as well as the surrounding areas between 3.30 and 5.30 am.

Witnesses should contact Ballyfermot Garda Station on 01 666 7200.
