It was only a matter of time – but that doesn’t mean we were any more ready for it to happen.
Better bundle up, because Met Éireann have predicted temperatures are going to drop below zero this weekend.
Saturday will be cloudy with scattered showers, most frequent in the west and along the east coasts. Although it’s not all bad, as it will bright up in the north and northwest during the afternoon.
The temperatures will reach highs of 10C to 13Cm before dropping to 3C in some parts of the country overnight.
As the evening goes on, showers will become more confined to coastal areas of the west and north. However, the weather forecaster said there is the possibility of the odd one along the east coast.
Meanwhile on Sunday, will be “chilly, bright and mostly dry” with good sunshine – particularly in the morning.
There’s going to be a few showers early on in the day in the north and northwest, as well as possible on some of the southeast coasts. Temperatures will reach highs of 9C to 12C in the afternoon.
Now for the bad news: the cold weather.
It’s going to be cold and dry in most places on Sunday night, with a few showers on the northern and eastern coasts due to an onshore north to northeast breeze.
And with very light breeds and frost and fog developing, temperatures are forecast to fall between -1C and 3C.
Looking towards the rest of the week, Met Éireann have predicted cool but mostly dry weather for the early days, but turning more unsettled.
It will be reasonably mild from Wednesday onwards, with rain or showers at times.
