Kevin became paralysed after he fell in a playground in Paris.

The sister of a boy who was paralysed in a freak accident in Paris needs the public’s help.

She has launched a birthday card appeal for her brother’s 12th birthday.

11-year-old Kevin O’ Callaghan was in Paris with his family.

He was in a playground when he fell.

His sister explained to C103FM: “After the freak accident, Kevin had to have emergency surgery. He spent a few weeks in Paris before being transferred to Temple Street Dublin where he remains.”

His sister said he is getting stronger, but his condition is still unknown.

Kevin’s birthday is on May 1st and his sister wants to ensure he has an extra special day.

“We got some bad news last week because he has to have another operation. This week will determine what operation it will be.”

Kevin will now spend his birthday in the hospital, his sister revealed.

Kevin is from Dromahane, near Mallow in Cork.

His sister Rachel shared, “To put a smile on his face please send him cards just for his birthday. We ask people to do this.”

The public has been asked to send Kevin a birthday card to help make his day that little bit more magical.

He has missed out on so much since his accident. He was meant to see Ed Sheeran in Cork and visit Disneyland but had no choice but to cancel as he focuses on getting better.

You can send a card via post to Kevin Ballysimon, Dromahane, Mallow.

A GoFundMe has also been set up for Kevin.
