It could save a life.

It’s life-saving and so very worth our while.

Dad Ryan Reynolds and mum Blake Lively recently took to Instagram in an effort to encourage parents to take those exceptionally important CPR classes. The two famous Hollywood actors are parents to two daughters – James and Ines – aged 2 and 10 months, so without a doubt these two are preparing themselves for a long summer with these two bundles of energy.

Ryan spoke recently about how he ended up saving his nephew life after he very nearly drowned, but thanks to Ryan having some life-saving skills at hand, the story had a happy ending. However, many sadly do not. Irish Water Safety states that there were approximately 82 accidental water deaths in Ireland last year and within the summer months it’s wise to take extra precaution as we find ourselves by the pool and on holiday for lengthy periods.

When speaking about the CPR classes, Ryan, engaging in his typical light hearted humour said,

“… thank you to these two helpful yet lifeless dolls whose vacant ocular cavities will haunt me until end times.”

OK, so the dummies can be a bit scary looking but if we can get past that fact, we’re in for obtaining some quality rescuing skills.

Mum Blake talked about how taking the classes gave her a heightened sense of calm when it came to looking after her little ones seeing as now, she has the ability and confidence to begin CPR should something ever go wrong.

“For those of you who haven’t done it, you will love it. It’s so helpful by giving you knowledge, tools, and some peace of mind.”

So where can we sign up to acquire an aptitude for saving lives here at home? Fortunately for us, there are plenty of services that offer CPR (and more) classes such as the Irish Red Cross, the Irish Heart Foundation, and First Aid Training Ireland.
