Blogger’s Facebook post about mum-shaming gets a BIG reaction

Mums everywhere will empathise with this.

mum-shaming

If you’ve ever encountered ‘mum-shaming’ or heard of someone who has, you’ll identify with the below post.

Exasperated by the way some mothers have their parenting skills criticised by people who know little or nothing about the circumstances, blogger Karen Johnson shared her frustration.

In a Facebook post which has gone massively viral, Karen spoke of how people often say that some mothers are better than others, for example, stay at home moms as opposed to working mums, and how this is completely unfair and even more importantly, untrue.

Holding up a bag of popsicles, or ice lollies, the 21st Century Stay At Home Mom (SAHM), says that her kids sometimes eat them for breakfast and what about it?!

In conversation with The Huffington Post, Karen explained why she felt compelled to pen the post, which has since been shared almost 500,000 times, not to mention 800k likes and 36K comments, clearly highlighting what an important issue this is and how mothers feel victimised every single day.

“I have been blasted for drinking a glass of wine, having a messy house, not watching my kids well enough and being a helicopter parent. We are all just doing our best and want to hear and believe that we are doing a good job. So wouldn’t it be better to just give each other some grace and support?”

Hear hear.
