Bluebell baby monitors issue recall over safety hazards

Ellen Fitzpatrick

The Irish Communications Regulator has issued a recall on Bluebell baby monitors after they identified safety issues with the product.

ComReg said in a statement that the product is “no longer safe to use” due to an issue with the transfer between the monitor and the app that coincides with the system.

The risk is associated with the child not being monitored correctly.

The product now does not meet the requirements of the Radio Equipment Directive 2014/53/EU which is a regulatory framework for placing radio equipment on the market in the EU.

The product was also recalled from the UK market in May for the same reason.

In Ireland, the baby monitor was sold online at Boots, McCabes Pharmacy and in Currys.

The brand to look out for is Bluebell Baby Monitor and the models include:

  • Bluebell Baby Monitor 9-in-1
  • Bluebell 8-in-1 HD Baby Camera Monitor
  • Bluebell Smart Baby Monitor
  • Bluebell Baby Monitor 7-in-1
  • Bluebell Baby Monitor
  • Bluebell Baby Cam

Anyone at home who has one of these models are now advised to stop using them immediately.

Further information for those affected can be found on Boots, Currys or McCabes, depending on where you purchased yours.
