The body of a woman, believed to be Irish, has been found on a beach in India.

The victim, who is reportedly in her 20s, was found in Canacona, a coastal resort in Goa.

According to reports, she had injuries to her head and face and was severely beaten.

It’s thought she was a holiday in the district with a friend and had arrived in the area on Sunday.

The Department of Foreign Affairs issued a statement to The Irish Times:

It is believed that that the woman travelled to India using a British passport.
