This boy absolutely skewered Santa in his Christmas letter

'This is my first time writing to you because you're not real.'

“Have fun delivering presents or whatever.”

With many of us in full-on festive mode, it’s easy to forget that not everyone celebrates Christmas.

Just as other religious festivals don’t apply to Christians, Christmas doesn’t necessarily have meaning for people of other faiths and shouldn’t be forced on anyone.

A young Jewish boy from the US who was asked to write to Santa at school made his feelings on it perfectly clear in a dry and pretty succinct letter.

Young Jason does not hold back – he acknowledges that Santa isn’t real and lets him there are no hard feelings about all the years of missed presents.

“Dear Santa,” he writes, “this is my first time writing to you because your (sic) not real and I’m a Jew.”

“I think this is very inappropriate in public school for homework.

“Don’t worry about not stopping by my house all these years, I’m one of the chosen ones.

“So, happy Hanukkah and have fun delivering presents or whatever.”

Originally posted online last December, it’s doing the rounds online again this year and has been shared hundreds of times on Facebook.

Jason might just be one of the most searingly honest kids we’ve come across – fair play to him for speaking his mind.
