5-year-old boy killed in Kerry tragedy was on holiday from the UK

The young boy was holidaying in West Kerry when the accident unfolded.

A five-year-old boy killed in a quad bike accident in Kerry was visiting from the UK.

According to reports, the young boy was on holiday with his family in Ireland when the tragedy unfolded.

The incident occurred at a property in Castlegregory, West Kerry on Sunday, August 6th.

Emergency services rushed to the scene shortly after 3 pm, but the boy suffered critical injuries.

He was taken to University Hospital Kerry following the tragic accident, where a post-mortem is set to take place in due course.

A Garda source told the Irish Independent that the boy’s death is being treated as a tragic accident.

His family is being supported by a Garda liaison officer at this harrowing time.

Gardaí urged the public to respect the family’s privacy following this devastating loss.

A Garda spokesperson added, “An Garda Síochána asks that the media give the family privacy at this time and report on this incident sensitively. No further information is being made available at this time.”

An inquest into the accident will reportedly be held in 2024.
