Brad And Angelina Are Back Together (When It Comes To The Kids That Is)

Alison Bough

Christmas was a difficult time for the Jolie-Pitt family but the New Year appears to have brought some resolution as last night saw Brad and Angelina release their first joint statement.

In the US, CNN reports that the two actors have now agreed to seal all legal and court documents pertaining to their divorce with a view to protecting their six children:

“The parties and their counsel have signed agreements to preserve the privacy rights of their children and family by keeping all court documents confidential and engaging a private judge to make any necessary legal decisions and to facilitate the expeditious resolution of any remaining issues.

The parents are committed to act as a united front to effectuate recovery and reunification.”

The statement comes just a month after documents pertaining to the couple’s divorce proceedings revealed how acrimonious the split had become. The papers saw Pitt slam Jolie for undermining their children’s privacy, stating that Angelina:

“appears to be determined to ignore even agreed upon standards relating to the children’s best interest.”

The dad-of-six also claimed that Angelina had “no self-regulating mechanism” and “exposed the children by making public the names of their therapists and other mental health professionals.”

The documents also accused Jolie of releasing sensitive details of their custody agreement to the media by filing documents that contained private information:

“Although she had already made them public, she did it again.”

On the 21st of December, Pitt filed a memorandum to his request to have all documents pertaining to custody sealed, stating that information about the couple’s ongoing custody battle should remain a private matter. Pitt’s previous request for a legal hearing to have all documents sealed was denied.

The former power-couple presently have an informal custody arrangement whereby all six children are in the physical custody of their mother and Brad maintains supervised visits.
