Junior and senior infants returning to school

The end of homeschooling?

According to Taoiseach Micheál Martin. it is likely that junior and senior infants pupils will return to school on March 1, along with Leaving Cert students.

Speaking at the Fianna Fáil parliamentary party meeting last night, the Taoiseach said fifth-year students may also return to school next month, based on how the numbers look over the next couple of weeks.

According to the Independent, sources at the meeting said provisional plans on phased school reopenings will go before the Covid-19 Cabinet sub-committee meeting tomorrow.

However, when it comes to other classes at both primary and secondary school level, these students may have to wait a bit longer to get back to their classrooms and will be returning slowly and ‘in line with public health advice.’

This news comes after it was revealed that this year’s Leaving Cert students will be given a choice of predicted grade or sitting the exam, an arrangement essential to ensuring a fair system during the extraordinary circumstances of the pandemic, according to Minister for Education, Norma Foley.
