London Bridge is currently closed – with eyewitnesses stating that a vehicle ploughed into civilians.

The Metropolitan Police have already confirmed that the area has been evacuated, and closed and sealed off.

Some news publishers are reporting that 15-20 people were hit by “a van” during the incident.

Further reports claim that a knife-attack also took place with others stating that they heard shots fired – although none of this can currently be independently verified.

Videos and photographs have been posted to social media showing the London Bridge vicinity flooded with a large number of armed law enforcement.

One eyewitness took to Twitter to state: “Horrific scene at London Bridge… bodies strewn over the pavement. B&Q van mounted the pavement. I feel sick.”

There are also on-the-ground reports of multiple injuries – and that police have been evacuating homes in the area.

BBC reporter Holly Jones was on the bridge at the time of the incident. She said the van was driven by a man and was “probably travelling at about 50 miles an hour”.

She added: “I’d say there are about four severely injured people. They all have paramedics assisting them at the moment.”

Ms Jones went on to say that she saw a man being arrested by police in handcuffs.
