What a lovely thing to do.
A Wicklow bridal shop is offering free bridesmaids dresses to brides-to-be following the sudden closure of Dublin bridal boutique, Wedding World.
Arklow’s B Couture has said that they will give over 100 bridesmaids dresses free-of-charge to those who had been left stuck after the Fairview store closed down.
B Couture’s owner Bernie O’Farrell told Joe Duffy this week that they stock samples of dresses from the same supplier, Dessy.
She said:
“I have Dessy samples here, if anybody wants them for free they can have them.
“You might not get two of every dress but you’d probably get three different dresses in the same colour. At least it would help some people out.”
Bernie added that some of the dresses might be slightly older but that most of them are “still current.”
Bernie has also called on other boutique owners to do the same, asking that any other shops with Dessy samples get in touch with her.
On Facebook, she wrote that B Couture has rented a room in the Croke Park Convention Centre on Wednesday from 12pm – 6pm where the samples will be available.
Bernie said that Swords bridal shop, La Bella Sposa, will also have Dessy samples available on the day.
Other brides have also offered their old bridesmaids dresses to the cause.
Brides-to-be are asked to bring their receipt from Wedding World to avail of the offer.
Over 130 brides and bridesmaids were affected by the closure of Wedding World this week.
Dessy has said they are now responsible for the dress orders and has advised any customers to contact the UK company by phone on +44 (0) 1909 774444 or email [email protected].
