It comes out in May.
If the past two seasons of Bridgerton have left you hungry for more, then you’re in luck.
Not only do we have season three to look forward to, but there’s also a spin-off coming soon, centred upon the life of Queen Charlotte.
Queen Charlotte: A Bridgerton Story is a prequel documenting the ruler’s early life in Regency London.
According to Netflix, the series “tells the story of how the young Queen’s marriage to King George sparked both a great love story and a societal shift, creating the world of the Ton inherited by the characters in Bridgerton.”
In the trailer, Bridgerton fans are given a glimpse of what to expect. We see the queen as she comes of age and embarks on a romance with the young King George III.
While their early courtship looks idyllic, it’s clear that trouble is brewing as pressure mounts on young Charlotte, as she’s told that her marriage is “the business of this country”.
We also bear witness to her coronation.
“This is my throne,” she proudly states. “I am the queen.”
The six-part series lands on Netflix on May 4th, and fans will recognise some familiar faces from the Bridgerton universe. Naturally enough, Golda Rosheuval will play Queen Charlotte at the present moment, but her younger counterpart will be played by India Amarteifio.
King George will be played by Corey Mylchreest.
Other Bridgerton stars popping by the ton for the spinoff include Ruth Gemmell (Violet), Hugh Sachs (Brimsley) and Adjoa Andoh (Lady Danbury). Their younger counterparts will be played by Connie Jenkins-Greig, Sam Clemmett, and Arsema Thomas, respectively.
Queen Charlotte: A Love Story lands on Netflix on 4 May, while it’s not yet known when the third season of Bridgerton will be released.
