Further disruption expected across the country today.
It’s the fourth day of strike action at Bus Éireann, and as commuters face into another morning of travel chaos the National Bus and Rail union is calling on the Transport Minister Shane Ross to intervene.
The dispute centers on the decision to implement a survival plan for the State-owned company without union agreement.
Thousands of people were affected when the strikes hit on Friday.
In a letter to the Minister for Transport, General Secretary of the NBRU Dermot O’Leary urged the office to intervene,
“I am more than aware that you are on public record with regard to not involving your Office in the minutiae of the so-called industrial relations issues at Bus Éireann, a position with which I fundamentally disagree.”
The indefinite action is said to be costing the operator who face insolvency, hundreds of thousands of euro each day.
Rail services were also affected on Friday, although Iarnród Éireann insist that all schedules will be operating as normal today.
All train services operating on all routes today, no disruption anticipated arising from Bus Eireann dispute.

We regret that the majority of our services are not operating due to indefinite industrial action by unions #strike https://t.co/sZl6s1jnTl
