A Cat Is Running For President Of The United States

Amanda Cassidy

Limberbutt McCubbins is a feline with VERY high ambitions.

According to reports in the Washington Post, the tabby;

“professes belief in a fair tax code, a strong middle class, affordable health care and gay-cat marriage rights.”

TECHNICALLY, there is no law against a cat running for office. The US constitution declares that “no person, except a natural born citizen …shall be eligible to the office of president.” There was never any need to clarify that person HAD to be human.

Limberbutt decided, via his owner, Emilee McCubbins from Kentucky, to enter the greatest political race as a joke. But after a massive social network following, both nationally and internationally, he is now registered with the Federal Election Committee. Emilee says she doesn’t intend for her Kitty candidate to win (!) but she feels his popularity is a symbol of voter discontent with the current candidates.

The Post interviewed Nancy Mramor, a psychologist who specialises in media and health issues.

“Right now, the country may be looking for that comic relief. When politics and news become too much, you often turn off the TV and go to your social networking. And what do you find? Limberbutt McCubbins. … It’s stress relief from the politicians who you may view as fighting like cats and dogs.”

Hillary Clinton and Donald Trump will go head to head in the first presidential candidate debate later tonight. And although Limberbutt will not join them, he claims he is purrfect for the job.
