CCPC recall kid’s toy due to fire hazard after thousands sold in Ireland

There have been 2,756 affected YOTO toys sold in the Republic of Ireland, so this affects many parents across the country

The Competition and Consumer Protection Commission has issued a recall on a popular Yoto kid’s toy this week

Officials said a “safety issue has been identified with the Yoto Mini (2021-2023 Edition).”  

The kid’s toy presents a “risk of fire, burns, and smoke inhalation injury,” they explained, because “during charging, the battery may suffer a thermal runaway, causing it to overheat.”

The brand is Yoto,  the batch number is commencing 1FE-8FE and the type/number of the model is Yoto Mini SKU PRPLXX00860.

There have been around 2,756 affected products sold in the Republic of Ireland, so this affects many parents across the country.

Customers are being advised to stop using the product immediately and keep it out of the reach of children.

They also stated that: “Yoto is offering a free battery replacement kit to all customers who have an affected Yoto Mini. 

“These products were manufactured and sold between 2021 and 2023 and have a serial number commencing 1FE-8FE.”

Unaffected models have a 14-digit Serial Number that either: ends with a -H, or -H7, or -U, regardless of how it starts (including if they start 1FE-8FE).
