Celebrities are calling for the release of a sex-trafficking victim who killed a man that paid her for sex when she was a child.

Cyntoia Brown was 16-years-old when her abusive boyfriend, ‘Cutthroat’, send her out to “earn some money.”

She then met Johnny Allen, a man who said he would pay her for sex.

Brown went to the man’s home where she said she became scared.

She said Allen kept “standing over her” so she took a gun from her bag and shot him.

Brown was arrested and tried as an adult at the age of 16.

She received a life sentence for murder and prostitution and has currently served 13 years of that sentence.

She is now 29-years-old.

Brown’s case has received a resurgence of attention online in recent days, with celebrities such as Kim Kardashian, Rihanna, and Cara Delevigne sharing her story.

The hashtag ‘Free Cyntoia Brown’ has also been trending.

Kim wrote that “the system has failed.”

The reality star also said that she contacted her attornies “to see what could be done to fix this.”

Prosecutor Jeff Burks told Fox 17 that the recent attention being brought to Brown’s case is “not fair.”

“There has been a group of people who have wanted to make Ms Brown a victim and a celebrity since this happened.

“She was not ‘trafficked’ nor was she a ‘sex slave’.

“It’s not fair to the victim and his family that the other side of this case is so seldom heard.”
