Cinemas are banning teens wearing suits from watching new Minions movie

The trend is causing havoc in cinemas.

If you’ve been to the cinema lately, you may have noticed large groups of teenagers in suits wreaking havoc in your local cinema recently.

You may also be thinking why are teenagers dressing in formal attire to see a children’s movie?

These teens are part of the new GentleMinions movement, a trend that is causing chaos in cinemas and causing groups in suits to be banned from entering.

The Gentle Minions movement is a viral challenge, where large groups of friends going to see Minions Rise of Gru, wear full format attire and use the hashtag #gentleminions.

That in itself is fine, the problem is though that many of these groups are been causing majors disruptions during screenings of the film, with most screenings being filled with young children.

Because of this many cinemas have made the decision not to allow anyone wearing suits into screenings of the film to avoid any more havoc.

One cinema in the United Kingdom, The Regal, took to social media to explain why they would no longer be allowing groups in formal attire into their screenings of the Minions movie;

“We are currently not admitting unaccompanied children wearing suits for Minions: The Rise Of Gru.

This is due to the issues we have encountered over the last two days and it’s associated behaviour.”

A spokesperson for Odeon cinemas also spoke out saying that they will have to restrict entry to the movie;

“Due to a small number of incidents in our cinemas over the weekend we have had to restrict access in some circumstances.”

Universal Pictures on the other hand have shared their praise for the movement online posting on their Twitter ‘to everyone showing up to @Minions in suits: we see you and we love you.’
