An investigation has been launched.

Gardaí in Tallaght are investigating an attack on a primary school.

It is believed concrete blocks were thrown at the windows of St. Maelruain’s Junior School in Old Bawn, Tallaght.

The concrete blocks were thrown at the windows on two occasions in January.

Police confirmed two separate incidents on Tuesday, January 18th, and another on January 20th.

It is understood the slabs were removed from the roof of the building. They were then thrown at the school windows near the internal courtyard.

The window frames were reportedly damaged, but luckily no students were harmed.

A spokesperson for Gardaí in Tallaght told DublinLive: “Gardaí are investigating an incident of criminal damage to a property in Tallaght, Co. Dublin between the 18th and the 19th of January 2022.”

“No arrests have been made, investigations are ongoing.”

The news comes after a suspicious man was spotted outside the same school last month.

However, the cases are not believed to be connected.

Last week, the school informed parents that there was a man loitering outside the school gates.

Scoil Maelruain Junior School in Tallaght issued a warning to parents. The school was concerned after a “suspicious” man was spotted trying to break a locked gate to gain access to the school grounds.

The incident occurred on January 24th. Children were playing in the schoolyard when he tried to break in.

Luckily, the man did not gain entry to the school despite his efforts to do so.

A letter was sent to parents about the serious incident.

The school called Gardaí to the scene, but no arrests were made.
