Today FM's Paula MacSweeney is now a mum - and has chosen a beautiful traditional name

What a gorgeous announcement.

There’s happy news for radio host Paula MacSweeney – she’s now a mum!

The Today FM presenter and her husband Aidan Donnelly have welcomed their first child, a little boy.

In a post shared to Instagram, Paula announced that they’ve chosen to name him Roddy.

“Now gathered round us, we have our own crew,” she wrote.

“We have a boy! He is so gorgeous, weighs in at 8lb 4oz and his name is Roddy.”

The accompanying photo shows the new mum beaming as she cradles her son to her chest.

Baby Roddy comes after a whirlwind couple of years for Paula and Aidan.

The pair met on Tinder over three years ago as part of a radio segment that saw Paula go on one date with someone from the app each week.

They got engaged in January of 2017 and eloped to New York the following September, having told only a handful of people.

Paula announced that she was pregnant earlier this year and said she was looking forward to being a mum.

“I can’t wait, I just have this romantic view of sitting by the fire feeding my baby coming up to Christmas,” she told Now magazine.

“I’ll take six months off, and there is an option for unpaid after that, but I’ll just enjoy every second of it.

“Those six months will fly, so I’m not going to wish them away either.”
