Coronation Street are reportedly lining up a surprise pregnancy storyline for Maria Connor.

According to The Sun, the Weatherfield residents are going to be shocked when Maria reveals she's pregnant with Gary Windass' baby. While the pair have just struck up a romance, the publication reports that things are going to get very seriously, very quickly after Maria makes her choice between Gary and Ali Neeson. "Gary's decided he wants Maria and he goes all out to see Ali off and woo her," an insider said. "He buys her a hugely expensive 4X4 car and showers her with gifts before asking her to move in with him into Weatherfield's luxury flats on Victoria Court." The source added that Gary comes up with a story about how he can afford everything, and that Maria falls for it "hook, line and sinker." "No-one else quite knows why they are moving so fast until they go to celebrate moving in together in the Rovers and Maria raises eyebrows by shunning the champers and only having a lime and soda," they continued. "One of the girls asks them if they're expecting and Gary's answer all but confirms it leading to Maria desperately shushing the cheers and congratulations." Maria has a son, Liam, with her late ex husband Liam Connor. Meanwhile, Gary is dad to Jake, whom he shares with Izzy Armstrong, and Zack, whom he shares with Nicola Rubinstein.
