Coronation Street shares the first look at Nicola Thorp’s return

Five months after she left the cobbles, Coronation Street's Nicola Thorp is officially set to reprise her role of Nicola Rubinstein.

The actress' character left the cobbles over the summer after her father's death, heading to Bristol with her baby son. Zack, for a fresh start. And now the long-running soap has shared a video of her return, where the actress spoke about her excitement over being back on the programme. In the video, she says:

"Hello everyone! It's my first day back on the set of Corrie. 

"I'm so excited to be back. I've missed you all. It's been a long time now since Phelan's reign of terror, but I hope you're all looking forward to what Nicola's going to get up to in January when she's back on screens.

"Love you all."

Zack was born after Nicola had a one-night-stand with Gary Windass, who cheated on his girlfriend, Sarah Platt, with her. Around the time of Nicola's exit earlier this summer, things seemed to be pretty good between the trio: Sarah had forgiven Gary; the tension was starting to ease up and they were all determined to make the co-parenting arrangement work. But it's been said that Nicola's return in the new year will cause some problems for Gary and Sarah - although it's not clear why or how.
