Coronation Street actor Alex Bain has become a dad at the age of 17

Coronation Street's Alex Bain and his girlfriend, Levi Selby, have welcomed their first child together.

The Sun report that the pair welcomed a daughter, who they named Lydia-Rose Bain, on Sunday. The new parents, who sat their GCSEs this year, are said to have been inundated with well wishes and congratulatory messages over the last few days. A source told the publication that the pair were "over the moon" at their new arrival. They said;

“They are absolutely over the moon — it’s the greatest gift they could have hoped for this Christmas.”

The 17-year-old actor and his girlfriend announced their happy news in May this year, when Levi shared a photo of her 12-week scan on social media. At the time, source told The Sun that he had been sharing the news around his school in Lancashire. They added:

 “Alex has been telling everyone he’s going to be a father. "He isn’t keeping it a secret. "It’s hard to tell if he’s happy about it or not but he’s definitely not ashamed of it. “But some people have been saying how young he is to be having a baby. It’s only happened to one other person at his school in recent years so it is pretty shocking.”

The couple have been together since April of 2017. Alex’s portrayal of Simon on Corrie saw him win Best Young Performance at the British Soap Awards in 2011. He has been on the show for 10 years and has received four more nominations during this time.
