Corrie’s Rob Mallard reveals condition that causes him to shake constantly

Coronation Street's Rob Mallard has revealed that he suffers from a neurological condition that causes him to shake constantly.

The actor said that he has been living with the essential tremor for almost 10 years and that he is usually able to hide his involuntary shaking on set. Mallard told Holly and Phillip on This Morning that he felt "exposed" the last time he was interviewed on the programme. Viewers had noticed his tremor and taken to social media to ask why he was so 'nervous.' Today, Mallard said that he was "embarrassed" by his condition.

“I have had this nearly 10 years. My solution was to hide and manage it. Because of the job that I’m in it could be detrimental. “I was incredibly embarrassed and then angry and then I started getting lots of messages from people on Twitter saying, ‘Me too’.”

The 25-year-old said that the condition first affected his hands, but that it could move to his voice box and his spine as he grows older. He also explained that while he's shooting episodes of the soap, he tends to hold props so the shaking is less noticeable.
