A cot designer has been sentenced today after a baby accidently died in one of his beds.

Craig Williams of Playtime Beds could serve up to three years in prison for the death of seven month old baby Oscar Abbey.

Oscar was found dead in one of Williams designs after apparently choking to death.

The 37 year old plead guilty to a health and safety charge and fraud but was not charge with manslaughter.

It is believed that baby Oscar died of asphyxiation after he wriggled through a hole in his bed’s side and became trapped by his neck.

It was later discovered that a similar incident had occurred with one of Williams’ designs before when a mother found her toddler hanging by her neck.

A post from the Cleveland and North Yorkshire alert read;

“The owner of a Sheffield bed manufacturer, 37-year-old Craig Williams of Park View Road, Kimberworth, appeared at Leeds Crown Court today (Friday 26 October 2018) and was sentenced to three years and four months in prison. He was given 21 months for the fraud charge and 19 months for the breach of Section 3 of the Heath and Safety Work Act. Williams has also been disqualified from being a Director for ten years. “

Our thoughts are with the family of baby Oscar at this difficult time.
